UW Radiology researchers receive multiple honors at RSNA 2025

Multiple trainees and faculty worked together with their teams and other collaborators to receive awards at the recent Radiological Society of North America 2025 Annual Meeting. We extend our congratulations to the following award-winners for their outstanding accomplishments!
Ehsan Alipour, MD, MPH, PHD, and Majid Chalian, MD, received a Cum Laude Award for their poster, “Exploring multimodal data fusion approaches in radiology: An example in prediction of post-surgical margin status in soft tissue sarcoma.”
Karthika Devi, DS, MD, recent postdoctoral research scholar (now alum), received two Certificates of Merit for her educational exhibits. Abstracts include: Transforming patient care: Radiologist-driven consultations with opportunistic CT screening (secondary authors include: Adnan Ahmad, BSCS; Samriddhi Sivakumar, BSCS; Adhrith Vutukuri; Aarohi Bhatt, MBBS; Dania Daye, MD; Perry J. Pickhardt, MD; Dushyant W. Sahani, MD) and Rethinking the future of radiology: Elevating the entire imaging experience with convenience, communication and care (secondary authors include: Manjiri Dighe, MD; Aarohi Bhatt, MBBS; Gulnoor Sheriff, RT; and Dushyant W. Sahani, MD).
Alireza Ghodsi, MD, postdoctoral research fellow at Fred Hutch, received an RSNA Trainee Research Prize for their research project, “PSMA PET-derived bone tumor volume as a factor associated with hematologic adverse events in 177Lu-PSMA-617 therapy for metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer (mCRPC).” Dr. Amir Iravani was Dr. Ghodsi’s mentor.
Hyun Su Kim, MS, PhD, and Majid Chalian, MD, received an RSNA Certificate of Merit for their educational exhibit, “Identifying common blind spots in spine MRI: What sets radiologists apart from other clinicians.”
Tushar Kumar, MD, Pediatrics fellow (and former Abdominal Imaging fellow) received a Cum Laude Award for their exhibit, “Mycotic aortic aneurysms: From early signs to rupture – an evolution over time,” and a Certificate of Merit Award for their exhibit, “Hepatic inflammatory pseudotumor: Chameleon of the liver.” Both presentations have been invited for publication in RadioGraphics. Arash Mahdavi, MD, (Neuroradiology fellow; former Abdominal Imaging fellow), Negar Firoozeh, MD, (postdoctoral research fellow), and Farhad Pishgar, MD, MPH, (PGY-4 radiology resident) are pleased to share that their educational exhibit, “Multisystem Imaging Findings and Complications of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists: What Radiologists Should Know,” has been invited for publication in the RadioGraphics journal. Peyman Mirghaderi, MD, MPH, H-MBA, radiology research fellow, Sara Haseli, MD, Bahar Mansoori, MD, and Majid Chalian, MD, received an RSNA Certificate of Merit for their educational exhibit “Imaging of dermatologic lesions associated with syndromic diseases.” Dr. Mirghaderi, Kelsey Maher, MD, Peter C. Thurlow, MD, Bahar Mansoori, MD, and Majid Chalian, MD, were identified for solicitation by RadioGraphics for a full-length manuscript based on their RSNA educational exhibit (MKEE-128), “Pregnancy-related musculoskeletal disorders and tumors.”
Nandakumar Patnam, MD, Cardiothoracic imaging fellow, received two Certificate of Merit Awards for his educational exhibits: “Trauma at the surface, danger beneath: Imaging the abdominal wall” and “Weight of the Nation: Unveiling bariatric surgery complications through imaging.” The former topic has been invited for publication in Radiographics.
