Dr. Marissa Lawson has received the 2025 Athena Award

Congratulations to Marissa Lawson, MD, on her selection as the 2025 recipient of the Athena Endowed Award for Excellence in Breast Cancer Research! The Athena Award was established to recognize an early career researcher making the greatest contribution during the past year toward advancing research to improve the prevention, detection, diagnosis and/or treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. Lawson's research was recently highlighted in the UW Medicine Newsroom piece Racial disparities seen in care after abnormal mammograms.

Her work was also highlighted in the US News article Women of color receive slower response to a bad mammogram.
