MR Safety Team wins UW Medicine Cares Award

The UW Radiology Magnetic Resonance Safety Team comprised of imaging technologist supervisor Mussie Tesfaldet and imaging technologist leads Sonia Beall and Buu Buu Huynh has been awarded a spring 2025 UW Medicine Cares Award! 

The nomination summary for the team’s award follows:

"Mussie and the MR Safety Team have demonstrated exceptional leadership and collaboration in expanding MRI services to patients with implanted medical devices, many of whom would otherwise be ineligible for this crucial imaging. Through their partnership with the Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab, they developed a program that has safely provided thousands of MRI exams to patients with both 'MRI Conditional' and 'MRI Non-Conditional' devices.

Their innovative approach, meticulous documentation, and team-based execution have set a benchmark for care that extends beyond UW Medicine to the broader medical community, exemplifying the institution's mission and purpose."
