Dr. Guy Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology, Division of Interventional Radiology. He is an expert in minimally invasive image-guided procedures. His research interests include minimally invasive treatments for liver cancer including ablation and catheter-based treatments. He also has a special interest in a procedure called prostate artery embolization to help men with symptoms from BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia).
Dr. Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Washington. He went on to study pharmacy and earned a Pharm. D. from the UW before receiving his M.D. from New York Medical College. He returned to Seattle to do his radiology residency and interventional radiology fellowship at the UW.
Guy was awarded the Fall 2025 UW Medicine Cares Award for exemplary service at the UW Medical Center-Montlake campus. The award program was established in 2013 to formally recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and excellence of those in the UW Medicine community who consistently exemplify the UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines by making patients and families the highest priority and placing their needs first.
