Biography

Dr. Godwin is a chest radiologist at UW Medical Center and a UW professor of radiology and adjunct professor of medicine. He has particular experience in interpreting radiographs and CT scans for diagnosis of interstitial lung disease, chest complications of solid organ and stem cell transplantation, and occupational lung diseases. He has authored and co-authored over 150 publications, mostly dealing with clinical research in radiology.

Dr. Godwin earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at San Diego State College and his MD at Stanford University. His residency in diagnostic radiology was at University of California, San Diego, and his fellowships in chest radiology were at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and at University of California, San Francisco. After six years as faculty at Duke University, he came to University of Washington to direct the Thoracic Radiology section.

He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and is a past president of the Society of Thoracic Radiology, of which he was a founding member. He has received an outstanding educator award from the Radiological Society of North America. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging.
