LOOKING FOR IN RESIDENCY

I was looking for a program where I would have access to high volumes of cases and pathologies in each subspecialty, a good cultural fit, and opportunities for strong mentorship.

UW STRENGTHS

What drew me to UW are its clear strengths and how well they match what I’m looking for in a program. As the main medical center for the WWAMI region, you get to see an incredible variety of cases, with excellent faculty to support your professional goals. Outside of work, Washington has so much to offer, from beautiful nature to great food and endless opportunities to explore, which the residents definitely take full advantage of.

ADVICE

Talk to as many of the residents as you can at the programs you are applying to. The residents here were a large part of why I wanted to come to UW, because my discussions with them gave me the confidence that the program culture was a good fit for me. The cases and research opportunities will always be there to take advantage of, but the people you'll be working with will also have a lasting impact on your overall experience.
