Biography

Dr. McGregor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington and the Division Chief of the Interventional Radiology section.  Dr. McGregor received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of California, San Francisco.  While a resident, Dr. McGregor received trainee research prizes at the annual Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) meetings (2015 and 2016) for his research focused on gallbladder cryoablation, minimally invasive treatment for gallbladder disease, and radiogenomics in dialysis arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs).

Following his residency, Dr. McGregor completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at UCSF, during which he received research funding from the RSNA to continue his work in AVFs and won the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) foundation’s fellow research award.  He was previously an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Arizona, where he served as the Associate Director of the Interventional Radiology Residency Program.

Dr. McGregor’s clinical interests include prostate artery embolization (a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia [BPH]), interventional oncology (including percutaneous liver, kidney, bone, and lung ablations and Y90 radioembolization), lymphatic interventions, treatment of pulmonary embolism, management of inferior vena cava filters, and gallbladder cryoablation.  His research interests include gallbladder cryoablation, a minimally invasive procedure to definitively treat gallbladder disease, endovascular endothelial cell sampling and genetic analysis in dialysis arteriovenous fistulas, prostate artery embolization, and trans-arterial interventions for hepatocellular carcinoma and liver metastases.

Dr. McGregor is a member of the Radiological Society of North America and the Society of Interventional Radiology. He performed the first gallbladder ablation and the first kidney radioembolization procedure at the University of Washington.
