Welcome to the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. As one of the nation’s top-ranked programs, and with UW Medical Center recognized as the #1 hospital in Washington, we are proud to serve patients across the Pacific Northwest (WWAMI – Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) and around the globe.
At the heart of our department is a deep commitment to patient- and family-centered care and enhancing patient’s experience. Our guiding principle is simple yet powerful: to provide the best care for every patient, every time and across the UW Medicine health system. This commitment is brought to life by our exceptional team—physicians, advanced practice providers, scientists, medical physicists, trainees and staff—who are united by a shared passion for service, collaboration, discovery, and innovation.
Our department is home to over 160 clinical and research faculty, including highly trained subspecialists across all areas of diagnostic, interventional, and nuclear medicine radiology. These include abdominal imaging, breast imaging, emergency radiology, vascular and interventional radiology, musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, pediatric radiology and thoracic imaging. We provide care across multiple sites, including UW Medical Center (Montlake, Northwest, Roosevelt, and Eastside Clinics), Harborview Medical Center, the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Fred Hutch Cancer Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
We are proud to be leaders in minimally invasive, image-guided therapies that reduce patient morbidity, improve outcomes and lower healthcare costs. Our state-of-the-art imaging technology, modern infrastructure, and robust IT and AI platforms enable us to deliver safe, high-quality, appropriate and efficient care while advancing the frontiers of translational research.
Our department is also a vibrant academic community. We are consistently ranked among the top recipients of NIH funding, and our research spans basic science, translational, outcomes and clinical domains. We are deeply invested in the future of medicine through our fellowship and residency training programs, innovative educational platforms and strong mentorship culture.
